Margie Reid, managing director of OMD Melbourne set to depart

Margie Reid, managing director of OMD Melbourne is set to leave the company after 11 years, Mumbrella can reveal.

Reid first joined the company in 2006 as business director, leaving McCann after three years as business manager.

“Margie’s impact on the Melbourne business has been enormous. She has led the Melbourne team through a significant period of growth and has been a key member of the leadership team. We thank her for the amazing job she has done and wish her all the very best in her new endeavours,” Aimee Buchanan, CEO of OMD, said confirming the departure.

Reid is leaving the agency to explore other opportunities.

Peter Horgan, CEO of Omnicom Media Group and former CEO of OMD Australia and Buchanan, will oversee the OMD Melbourne office until a replacement has been announced.

In 2011, Reid was promoted from her role as business director to head of trading.

Just one year later Reid was promoted to general manager while retaining her head of trading title.

For the past three years Reid has held the managing director title at OMD Melbourne.

As her time as managing director of OMD Melbourne, the agency won the media account for Simplot earlier in the month and Antonia Glezakos was promoted to OMD Melbourne’s general manager from her previous role as business director.

In April, the media agency also locked in the national McDonald’s media account, winning the Queensland and Northern Territory business.

While at the start of last year, the agency picked up the Coles account from its incumbent agency UM after 12 years.

OMD clients include Qantas, Apple, Telstra, Coles and McDonald’s.
