Marie Claire and Bumble launch Glass Ceiling Awards to celebrate women’s achievements

The inaugural Marie Claire and Bumble Glass Ceiling Awards will be held next month, with support from Estée Lauder, to recognise “women smashing gender boundaries in the workplace”.

The judging panel includes former prime minister Julia Gillard, chef Kylie Kwong, surfer Layne Beachley, journalists Melissa Doyle and Virginia Trioli and fashion designer Camilla Franks,  along with Business Chicks CEO Olivia Ruello, Bumble associate marketing director APAC Michelle Battersby, and Estée Lauder Companies managing director Terry Little. Awards for eight categories will be handed out on 19 June in Sydney to both women and companies ensuring gender equality in their workplaces.

“For 25 years, Marie Claire has championed, empowered and supported Australian women and the Glass Ceiling Awards are a natural extension of our core brand mission,” Marie Claire editor Nicky Briger said.

“It’s also a fantastic opportunity to celebrate the advances forged for working women as well as promoting the positive changes in Australian workplaces.”

Bumble’s associate marketing director APAC, Michelle Battersby, said that the dating app company is “passionate about empowering women to make the first move in all aspects of their lives”.

“These awards are in celebration of companies and women who are breaking through gender boundaries in the workforce, and we hope that through this partnership we can encourage even more women to take the first step to enact real change,” Battersby said.

“If you know an inspirational businesswoman, download Bumble today and nominate her for our Making Moves Award.”

Estée Lauder’s managing director, Terry Little, also emphasised that the beauty brand is “thrilled” to be supporting the awards and providing an opportunity to “celebrate women and businesses driving positive change in the workplace”.

“At Estée Lauder Companies, we value an inclusive and compassionate working environment and so this partnership with Marie Claire is perfectly aligned with our company culture,” Little said.
