Masterchef and The Block almost level in Sunday ratings

An hour and half episode of Masterchef, in which contestants were tasked to write their own recipes, was run close by The Block for top spot in the Sunday night ratings.

Ten’s food show just pipped Nine’s home improvement program by 7,000 viewers, winning the night with 1.731m.

The close race reflects the week just gone. Four episodes of Masterchef were in the top ten most-watched shows, but The Block was second only to Australa’s Got Talent as the most popular show of the week. Two other episodes of The Block also figured in the top ten.

The morning tussle between Weekend Sunrise and Weekend Today was also a close run thing, with just 7,000 viewers between the two shows. Sunrise just won the morning with 315,000.
