Masterchef double episodes top key advertising demos in Thursday’s ratings

Ten’s reality cooking show Masterchef dominated Thursday night’s TV ratings in the key advertising demographics.

Ten aired two episodes of Masterchef back-to-back, with the elimination of contestant Josh Clearihan drawing an average of 875,000 metro viewers, according to OzTAM’s overnight preliminary metro ratings.

Meanwhile, the cooking class episode which followed averaged 669,000 viewers.

The episodes were the most watched two programs of the evening in the key advertising demographics of 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54 .

In the national ratings – which also include regional affiliates – the two Masterchef episodes averaged 1.207m and 904,000.

However, although Ten saw off Seven for share last night, Nine won the night overall, thanks to Thursday Night NRL Live which saw the Bulldogs defeated by the Cowboys.

In Brisbane, the NRL game was the top rating non-news program, with 191,000 viewers. It drew in a further 209,000 in Sydney. Nationally the game averaged 670,000.

Meanwhile, Seven’s 90 minutes of Home and Away attracted 648,000 metro viewers and 1.120m nationally.

Nine won the night with a 20.6% share, ahead of Ten’s 17.4%. Seven came third with 16.5%, ahead of ABC’s 9.6% and SBS’ 4.7%.

Seven News at 6pm was the most watched program for the evening with 1.018m metro viewers and 1.653m nationally.
