MasterChef first Aussie show to amass one million Facebook fans
MasterChef has reached one million Facebook fans, claiming title for the first light entertainment show to accumulate such online fandom. The occasion is marked with interactive activity, with MasterChef inviting fans to watch a ‘tribute’ video on their Facebook page.
(Update: Seven’s Home & Away actually hit the milestone last month)
The announcement:
MasterChef Australia has become the first Australian light entertainment program to reach one million Facebook fans.
I think you’ll find that Home and Away reached the 1 million milestone on Facebook a while ago… https://www.facebook.com/homeandaway 🙂
Wasn’t Home and Away the first Aussie show to reach a million?
I bet they wish they could add those numbers to their ever-decling viewership.
Interesting comment Melissa.
Home and Away’s Facebook page was launched on November 17 2009, so in the 2+ years since it has finally accumulated over 1 million likes.
Yesterday – Monday September 10 – , Home and Away averaged 1.42 million viewers in just 30 minutes and had just under 2.3 million people tune in at some stage. Yep, that means that in a single minute H&A accumulated more viewers than the Facebook page has accumulated in over two years.
I bet FaceBook would like those sort of numbers!
