M&C Saatchi promotes two to CD

M&C Saatchi has promoted Andy Flemming and Shane Gibson to the role of creative directors.  

The announcement:

Sydney, 14 January 2011 – M&C Saatchi Sydney has promoted senior team Andy Flemming and Shane Gibson to creative directors as part of a major restructure of its creative department.

“The agency has grown dramatically over the last year,” said M&C Saatchi executive creative director Ben Welsh.

“Alongside Gavin McLeod and Paul Dunne, Andy and Shane bring an enormous amount of experience and infectious enthusiasm. They’ve not only been instrumental in some significant new business wins, they’ve put out huge work for some of our biggest clients, and that’s the true test of a great team.”

Flemming and Gibson had worked together in Mojo Sydney in the 1990s before both moving on to senior positions in London, Hong Kong and Singapore. Between them they’ve contributed to many agency of the year titles, including Adnews, B&T, Campaign Brief, Advertising Age Asian Agency of the year and Global Agency of the year. They’ve also been awarded at every major award show, including D&AD, One Show and Cannes.

Reporting directly to Welsh, they will continue to create brand work for clients such as Optus, Woolworths and Westfield, while seizing creative opportunities where they can be found.

“Having worked with both Andy and M&C Saatchi before, I am fully aware of the possibilities this partnership can bring,” Gibson said. “The last year’s output has been proof of that.”

“M&C Saatchi offers the opportunity to create big thinking for some of the biggest clients in Australia,” Flemming said. “It’s a challenge, but we have an incredible, multi-disciplined team around us.”

The move follows M&C Saatchi’s recent appointment of highly sought after senior creative team Ronojoy “Tin Tin” Ghosh and Alison Hingle.

Ghosh was a senior art director at Clemenger BBDO, Wellington ahead of a two-year stint at Saatchi & Saatchi Singapore and four years at Saatchi’s Indonesia. In that time he accumulated an impressive collection of awards that included four Cannes Lions – one gold – amid a host of Clio, The One Show, New York Festival, London International and AdFest gongs.

Senior copywriter Hingle, a former creative group head at Ogilvy Johannesburg, has also made a habit of winning major awards including five Cannes Lions – one Gold – two Clios and a London International Grand Prize.
