McGrath Foundation launches ‘Moments with Mum’ Mother’s Day campaign

The McGrath Foundation has launched its ‘Moments with Mum’ Mother’s Day campaign, encouraging both mothers and daughters to have important conversations about breast health.

The foundation conducted research which found only 24% of women had had conversations with their mums about breast health, which sparked the idea for the new campaign.

Former model Maggie Tabberer and country singer Catherine Britt have backed the campaign by sharing their family’s experience with breast cancer, creating videos which will be available on mcgrathfoundation.com.au in the lead up to Mother’s Day on May 14.

The campaign also includes messages from nurses involved in the McGrath Foundation fundraising program, which aims to insert more breast care nurses in various Australian communities.

A 31-year-old nurse involved in the program, Sam Burns, said: “It is a wonderful role and such an amazing experience. I just love to be able to be there for my patients and their families at a time when it is so difficult for them. The best part of my job is having conversations with my patients, to answer questions that might seem trivial but are so important for them.

“It’s really important for mums to sit down and have a conversation with their daughters. Mums can help create that awareness, empowerment and connection with our bodies and with who we are,” she said.

Gifts can also be purchased from mcgrathfoundation.com.au/mothersday which will help fund more breast care nurses in communities around the country.

Samantha Wills (donating 100% of proceeds), Interflora, Goldwell, Willow Ware Australia, Baskin-Robins, ecodownunder, King Living, Hendersons Greeting Cards, OCosmedics, IGA, PTP and Qalo will donate special offers that will see a percentage of proceeds go towards the foundation.
