SYDNEY, 26 October 2011: Marriott International has appointed MEC as its lead global media agency.

MEC will be the lead media planning and buying agency for all of Marriott’s brands worldwide, including Marriott Hotels and Resorts, The Ritz-Carlton and Marriott Rewards. The account is worth approximately $120 million.

MEC will officially begin work effective 1 November 2011. The pitch was an extensive four-month process against Starcom, ZenithOptimedia and Carat. Peter Vogel, CEO MEC Australia, said: “Marriott International is a brilliant piece of business for MEC to win and I’m pleased that Australia played a part in this win. We received some very positive feedback on our pitch ideas. This win continues to fuel the momentum of new business wins MEC has had in the past six months.”

MEC recently won the media buying and planning accounts for Schwarzkopf and insurance company Allianz Australia. Its client list includes Mitsubishi, Colgate Palmolive, Paramount, Campbell Arnott’s, Red Bull and Activision Blizzard among others.
