Mediacom appoints Carl Colman as Melbourne MD

WPP’s Mediacom has hired Publicis Media’s chief client officer Carl Colman as managing director of its Melbourne operation.

Last month, Mumbrella revealed Mediacom Melbourne’s general manager Rob Moore had departed as part of a wider restructure.

Colman will report to CEO Willie Pang

In the past, Colman has worked with clients including Telstra, Suncorp and Qantas, in a career which has spanned over 20 years.

Colman’s remit as MD will be to deliver growth to the agency, focus on the development of the existing team, attract new talent and evolve Mediacom’s media partner relationships. He will join the national executive committee and report to Mediacom’s local CEO Willie Pang. He will also work with Nicole Boyd in her new capacity as managing partner of the Victorian government account.

Pang said business in the southern state was thriving.

“Our Melbourne business is large and thriving. We believe that we have an opportunity to continue accelerating to be first in market. Carl is a proven leader and has a wide skillset that is ideal in terms of helping unlock growth for our clients and our people. I’m proud to acknowledge Nicole’s leadership of the Victorian government account, and this partnership will ensure that we lay strong foundations for our next phase of growth,” he said.

Colman’s statement indicated he was full of enthusiasm for his new gig.

“I’m looking forward to leading a group of very talented people in the next phase of Mediacom Melbourne’s success story. The team here are phenomenal at what they do and this can already be seen in the work which has been produced for our clients. I’m excited to lead our people and clients on a path of continued growth.”
