Mediacom CEO Sean Seamer exits to join Supercars
Mediacom’s CEO Sean Seamer will leave the company after two years in his role to take the helm of the Supercars motor racing competition.
Seamer will replace James Warburton, who announced he would leave the company to join APN Outdoor as the company’s new CEO next year.
Warburton had been V8 Supercars boss since 2013.
Seamer has spent more than 15 years with Mediacom, joining the Australian arm in 2015 after almost two years as CEO of Group M in New Zealand.
He has also held roles across MediaCom Asia Pacific, including chief business development officer, head of business development and marketing and head of digital.
Seamer said he was thankful for the opportunities MediaCom have given him.
“ I’ve been fortunate enough to travel the world with them and have built life-long friendships as a result,” Seamer said.
“The business has a strong sense of purpose and a fantastic culture to continue to build on. We have done an amazing job over the past two years and have strength and depth of talent in all offices which I’m sure will continue to grow.”
Mark Lollback, CEO of GroupM said the company was disappointed to see Seamer go, but thanked him for his contribution to the agency.
“MediaCom is in the strongest position it has been in for 5 years,” Lollback said.
“The platform is there for many more years of success and I look forward to working with MediaCom to unlock that success. I would also like to thank Sean for his leadership and contribution to rebuilding Mediacom in Australia and wish him all the very best in his new role.”
Seamer’s replacement at MediaCom is yet to be announced.

Just FYI there’s no such thing as ‘V8 Supercars’ anymore, the V8 was dropped last year when the series changed its engine regulations.
