Medical emergency shows prove the top entertainment TV shows on quiet Tuesday night
Ten’s Ambulance Australia and Seven’s The Good Doctor were the top entertainment shows on a quiet Tuesday night that saw news and current dominate the evening, according to Oztam’s preliminary overnight ratings.
Ambulance Australia also topped all the key demographic groups across the five city metro markets, with Nine News and A Current Affair being the second and third in each of the 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54 groups.
In the five city ratings, Ambulance Australia attracted 652,000 viewers while The Good Doctor picked up 599,000. Seven News and Today Tonight topped the night with 931,000 and 888,000 while Nine’s news and A Current Affair picked up 883,000 and 873,000.
Nine’s best performing non-news shows were Hot Seat and Family Food Fight which had 443,000 and 432,000 viewers across the five cities.
Of the station shares, Seven picked up 19.4% over Nine’s 18.2%. Ten’s main channel share was 12.7%, well ahead of the ABC’s 9.6% and SBS’s 6.4%.
Nine tipped Seven out of the top network share for the night with 28.6% against 28.1%. Ten attracted 18.6% while the ABC had 15.2% and SBS 9.5%.
What mystifies me is that just about everyone I know (and hear) all admit ACA and Today Tonight are little more than curb crawling, ambulance chasing advertorial trash generators.
So why do they rate so highly day after day> Is it the fact they really don’t “rate”, just that the TV is on over dinner or something? Surely people don’t actually’ consume’ the tat they put to air.
Is the same for the brekky shows too – the TV is just ‘on’.
