The Melbourne radio ratings have stayed stable with 3AW still on top despite overall a hefty share 1.4 point fall and FoxFM claiming the top place in the FM market after a modest boost in audience.

Southern Cross Austereo’s TripleM continued to shed audience, down 0.4 points in total people to a share of 6.7, with rivals Nova, Gold and SmoothFM climbing ahead with shares of 7.8, 7.2 and 7.2 respectively.

In Breakfast, Triple M’s breakfast team of Eddie McGuire, Luke Darcy and Mick Molloy held onto its first place in the FM market despite dropping 0.8 share points to a 7.7 share. FoxFM’s breakfast with Fifi and Dave remained in second spot with a share of 7.4, down 0.6 points on the last survey.

Nova’s Meshel and Tommy in Breakfast continue to edge forward boosting their audience by 0.3 points to a share of 7, ahead of Gold’s Brig and Lehmo who posted a share of 6.5 and Mix101.1’s Chrissy Swan and Jane Hall who had a share of 6.2, down 0.3.

The overall breakfast ratings crown once again went to Fairfax Radio’s 3AW breakfast team of Ross and John who dominated the breakfast slot despite a drop of 1.6 points to a share of 16.7. 3AW’s overall share was also down, dropping by 1.4 points to a share of 12.2. However it remained ahead of ABC774’s share of 11.6.

While ABC774 could not win in breakfast, settling for a share of 15.4 after an increase of two points, the station snuck ahead of 3AW in the Drive timeslot, posting a share of 10.3, while 3AW had to settle for a share of 9.1 after its audience dropped by 1.9 points for Tom Elliott, who has suffered at the hands of callers impersonating high-profile interviewees in recent weeks.

In the FM heap, FoxFM’s national Drive show with Dan and Maz, who are set to move into the breakfast timeslot on 2Day next year, reigned supreme with a share of 10.1 after a boost in its audience of one share point.

Nova’s national drive show with Kate, Tim and Marty took second place after growing its audience by 0.6 points to a share of 9.5, ahead of Triple M which grabbed a share of 8.1.

The Australian Radio Network’s nationally syndicated Tim ‘Rosso’ Ross Drive show on Mix101.1’s show grew its audience by 0.2 points to a share of 6.6. Rosso will not be back in the drive timeslot next year as ARN rebrands Mix in Melbourne to Kiis, bringing in Dave Hughes and Kate Langbroek for the drive show.
