Mi9 appoints Sean Walsh as head of communications

Mi9 has appointed Sean Walsh, a former journalist and head of Corporate Communications for Wesfarmers Insurance, as its new head of communications.

The announcement:

Mi9 today announced that Sean Walsh has joined the company as Head of Communications.

Reporting to Roxanne Hoad, Mi9’s Director of Marketing, Sean will be responsible for developing and implementing communications strategies that embody MI9’s key values of imagination and intelligence and articulate its digital offering to advertisers.

“With imagination and intelligence underpinning all aspects of the Mi9 business, there’s a strong foundation to build a compelling communications program. I’m excited to join such a talented team.”

In the fast-paced digital industry, Sean will be tasked with connecting Mi9 more closely with its advertisers and developing deeper relationships by inspiring and educating its audiences about the evolving Mi9 proposition and changing market landscape.

Sean brings almost 15 years of media and communications experience to Mi9 having held positions as both a corporate communications adviser and journalist since 1999. He joins Mi9 from Wesfarmers Insurance where he led the Corporate Communications team for their Australian Underwriting division; overseeing external and internal communications for brands such as Coles Insurance, Lumley Insurance and WFI.

Sean’s diverse career path to date also includes positions at GE Capital across Australia and Asia Pacific, Channel Seven and Channel Nine, where he worked as a producer for ‘A Current Affair’ for more than five years. Since 2004, Sean has also provided Australian journalistic support to America’s ABC News, Channel Nine’s US partner.

Sean holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Management, from the Macquarie Graduate School of Management and a BA in Communications (Journalism) from the University of Technology, Sydney. He also studied Journalism for a semester abroad at California State University in Sacramento.”
