Millionnaire returns to Nine. Again

Nine’s Who Wants To Be A Millionnaire game show is to make another return.

The quiz show – which first aired in April 1999 – was a ratings blockbuster in a Monday night slot before host Eddie McGuire briefly became Nine’s CEO.  

Nine has since experimented with the format, including the stripped down Hot Seat which currently runs in a daily late afternoon slot against Seven’s Deal Or No Deal.

Last year, Deal or No Deal was a consistent winner with Hot Seat running it close, but this year has already seen success for Nine. Thursday saw Hot Seat win by 8000 viewers.

The return of the full version of Who Wants To be A Millionnaire will be as two one-hour Saturday night specials on February 27 and March 6, featuring teenage siblings attempting to win the cash for their schools. it will be presented by McGuire.
