Mindshare wins local internal WPP battle for Sanofi account after global win

Group M’s Mindshare is believed to have won an internal WPP agency battle to take control of the Australian Sanofi business, which handles brands including Cenovis, Natures Own and Telfast.

Sanofi is expected to announce Mindshare will be its media agency in Australia in coming days

The move ends Sanofi’s local relationship with Zenith after WPP won the global business last week in a major creative and media reshuffle by the healthcare giant.

Mumbrella understands Mindshare will be officially appointed to the local account in coming days as Sanofi works through a transition process.

Group M will handle the media business in all global markets  after a review of creative and media, with Group M picking up the business in almost all markets around the globe except for the US and Japan.

Sanofi is yet to confirm the appointment, which coincides with a number of internal marketing moves.

“Sanofi Australia is reviewing local requirements. We will work closely with our existing partner agencies during this process,” a company spokesperson said.

Cenovis and Nature’s own are the company’s two major vitamin brands, while Telfast is Australia’s most popular antihistamine.

Along with its consumer vitamin brands the company also boasts a number of over-the-counter pharmaceutical brands including Phenergan, Betadine and Gastrolyte.

Publicis, Havas and WPP have also been appointed to creative duties across a number of Sanofi business units.
