Australia Post shifts media account from UM Melbourne
Australia Post has awarded its media account to Mitchell & Partners shifting the account from incumbent UM Melbourne, Mumbrella can reveal.
Mumbrella understands there was no pitch for the account, with the decision to move it taken by Australia Post managers in order to synergise it with the Federal Government master media account which moved to Mitchells from UM earlier this year following a pitch.
While Australia Post provided its requirements to the government during the pitch process for that master media account, it was not involved in the evaluation and outcome with the decision to move across to Mitchells aimed at taking advantage of the Federal Government’s buying rates across media.
A spokesperson for Australia Post confirmed the appointment, but declined to divulge any further details.
For Mitchells the win follows on from several new account appointments over the last year including Open Universities Australia, Serengeti Eyewear, Maggie Beer Products and the agency’s big win of the year, the federal government master media account which it also won off UM.
The loss follows a mixed 18 months for UM during which the agency has also lost the L’Oreal account and the Mastercard account, but picked up NSW government and Coca-Cola and retained the NBN Co account.
Clemenger BBDO Melbourne and GPY&R Melbourne currently handle the brand’s creative account.
According to Nielsen, Australia Post had a main media spend of $8m in the 12 months to October 2014.

GPY&R might be doing some work behind the scenes but Clems nailed it with Video Stamp and there has been nothing done of any real consequence since

Anyone got any data on how many video stamp packs were sold? To actual customers? And how many are left over? Rough guess to the nearest million.
