Mojo hires leader of discovery
Publicis Mojo has hired Fran Clayton as its regional Leader of Discovery.
Clayton’s previous role was in New York at Saatchi & Saatchi where her job title was Worldwide Director Xploring with a brief to deliver statregy insights for clients including Toyota, Proctor & Gamble, General Mills and Sony Ericsson.
Publicis Mojo Chairman Graeme Wills said: “The quality of our insights drives the quality of our work and the results for our clients. A rigorous, progressive discovery process is at the heart of that.”
Clayton’s first planning role was at Publicis Mojo in New Zealand.
She recently published a report on the marketing of luxury brands.

‘Leader of Discovery’…come on, the extent agencies will go to further fragment the planning discipline is getting embarressing isn’t it?
Titles that you have to search for practical meaning… seriously is this just an advertising thing? On the flipside, met with a small boutique agency in Hong Kong last week and the title of one person was “Big Picture Ideas Talker” and her weary colleague had the apt title of “Serious Worker Bee”. Personally I found this to be kinda refreshing.

i’ve always wondered what happens in a pitch situation when the procurement guy/girl has a look over the costs assigned to each agency who is pitching and wonders what the f*ck half of these titles actually mean.
“hrm – tim, i’ve got a question … what does a leader of discovery do and is she worth $250 per head hour?”
“how does a head of innovation help us sell more prepaid phone plans?”
“Can we make a saving on the Client Communications Planning Senior Executive Manager?”

it woudl be hilarious if this was something on Foxtels – 30 Seconds, its tragic that the title its genuine. i can just picture the response when Fran is introduced to clients non marketing staff.
