Momentum Energy re-appoints Havas Media to expanded role

Following a four-year relationship, Australian energy provider Momentum Energy has re-appointed Havas Media without pitch and expanded the agency’s role.

In addition to conversion rate optimisation (CRO) and Media, Momentum has increased Havas’ scope of work to include data solutions and analytics.

Using the same team to drive CRO, analytics and media out of a single agency will allow Havas to create and deliver more efficient, data-driven marketing strategies.

Havas Media Melbourne, general manager, Naomi Johnston, said: “We are thrilled to continue the close relationship with Momentum that we have shared over the last four years. We truly see ourselves as an extension of the marketing team and are excited to continue working together to challenge the energy category through the smart use of data and application of efficient tech strategies that continues to deliver business results.”

Momentum Energy, marketing lead, Claire McClelland, added: “We love working with the team at Havas. They have been an awesome support for us, especially through the last crazy year of lockdowns. They’re a super capable team who we really value.”

In July 2017, the energy company first appointed Havas Media as the business moves from a traditional media model to a digitally focused approach.

Earlier this year, Havas Media won the Starward Whisky account and released first work for the Melbourne distillery.

The past 12 months have seen a flurry of movement at Havas Media, most notably with Mike Wilson stepping down from his chairman role at the start of this month. Wilson was named chairman, in the newly created role in 2019.

At the same time, the company announced Matt Houltham would step into the CEO role of the group across Australia and New Zealand. Houltham was in the role for just 12 months, before Virginia Hyland took over as CEO in November 2020 following the acquisition of the Hyland Agency, completed in August 2020.
