Mr and Mrs Cheese elimination wins 1.7m for Seven as The Block grows Tuesday night audience to 1.158m

My Kitchen Rules’ elimination of “Mr and Mrs Cheese” drew more than 1.7m viewers to Channel Seven last night as The Block had 1.158m watching contestants strive to come up with original ideas for their living and dining rooms.

The Biggest Loser had 390,000 viewers on Channel Ten, and ABC1 was third in the 7.30pm timeslot with 685,000 for 7.30 and 560,000 for Family Confidential, preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam show.

Despite falling second in its timeslot The Block continued to grow its audience, with its highest Tuesday night rating yet, and Nine picked up the biggest audience from 8.40pm with 1.079m for a new episode of The Big Bang Theory.

Nine then held onto 853,000 for a repeat of The Big Bang Theory that followed, while Seven had 886,000 for a new episode of its original Aussie drama Winners and Losers.


Seven then took the 9.45pm timeslot from Channel Nine with a second episode of Winners and Losers gaining Seven 749,000 as Nine had 533,000 and 367,000 for two episodes of 2 Broke Girls.

Winners and Losers was also the most time-shifted show last week, gaining 162,000 viewers over the last seven days and raising its audience from 922,000 last week to 1.084m.

Ten was third in the 9.30pm timeslot with 511,000 for NCIS: Los Angeles, but fell fourth at 8.30pm as it had 571,000 for a new episode of NCIS, while ABC1 had 682,000 for a rerun of its crime investigation series New Tricks. NCIS was the second most time-shifted show last week increasing its audience by 134,000 viewers over the seven days to a consolidated rating of 658,000.

In people 25-54 MKR had the biggest audience followed by The Block, the two episodes of The Big Bang Theory and Winners and Losers.

The evening news battle was just won by Channel Nine with 1.158m from 6pm to 6.30pm – as Seven had 1.114m – and 1.102m from 6.30pm to 7pm, as Seven’s combination of news on the east coast and Today Tonight elsewhere averaged 1.079m.

However Seven won the morning battle with 372,000 for Sunrise as Today had 318,000 on Channel Nine.

Channel Seven won the largest share of the audience overall with 26.7 per cent as Nine had 22.8 per cent and ABC1 was third with 11.3 per cent. Ten had an 11 per cent share of the audience.
