Mumbrella hangout with Outbrain CEO

Mumbrella held a video hangout with one of the founders of Outbrain today to discuss the nature of content marketing, what works and what doesn’t and the ROI of content discovery platforms.

Co-founder of the content discovery platform Yaron Galai and Australia and New Zealand managing director Ayal Steiner spoke about how the platform came about, the rise of content marketing, and how publishers and marketers need to show their audiences respect in their content and resist clickbait in order to hold readers’ trust and make the practice sustainable.

Content marketing has become an increasingly important part of the mix for many marketers around the world, but one problem has always been drawing as many eyeballs as possible to the product.

New York based Galai, the CEO of Outbrain, started the company in 2006, as his previous business Quigo, a performance based marketing platform, however decided he needed a new direction when he realised he was being affected by “ad blindness” on the web, and sold it to AOL.

He was also a co-founder of Ad4ever which developed rich media advertising technologies, and was acquired by Atlas in 2000. Galai is also a reservist Major in the Israel Navy.

Steiner launched Outbrain in Australia in 2012, partnering with many of the biggest publishers in the country to help spread content.

You can put your questions to the pair using the hashtag #askoutbrain via Twitter, or via the comment thread on this page.

The hangout will be live on this page from 2pm AESDT.
