Mumbrella movie night – The Social Network
Mumbrella readers are invited to a free preview screening in Sydney and Melbourne for The Social Network, the story of Facebook.
Pairs of tickets are available on a first come, first served basis.
The film, distributed by Sony Pictures Releasing, opens at the end of next week.
The Sydney screening is next Monday October 25 at Event Cinema, 505-525 George St, with drinks at 6pm and the film at 6.45pm. (5.15pm update: The Sydney screening is now full – please note we haven’t yet emailed anybody to tell them whether they were successful in getting a ticket. That will happen tomorrow.)
The Melbourne screening takes place next Wendesday October 27 at Village Cinemas – Jam Factory, 500 Chapel St, South Yarra. The showing is at 5.45pm for a 6pm screening, followed by drinks. (Update: The Melbourne screening is now full. Emails will go out later today (Tuesday) letting people know if they’ve been successful.)
Anybody wanting to attend should email us at mumbrella@focalattractions.com.au stating in the subject header whether they want tickets for Sydney or Melbourne.
Please note that previous screenings have filled up within a few minutes, so be aware that we probably will not be able to accommodate everybody who responds.

Um, thanks, Maxine.
Update: I’m afraid we’re already nearly full for Sydney. Still a few places for Melbourne…
Cheers,

@Maxine. That was probably the most uneducated response I have heard. This movie looks great, especially since this is where brands are heading—from traditional beginnings of speaking at the consumer, brands today want consumers to take the helm and control what content they want to interact with, while we sit back and listen to the conversation.

Awww, why doesn’t anything happen in Perth? It’s not as though we don’t have daylight saving, deregistered trading hours, or an exciting city waterfront development!
Oh, dear… as you were…

Charli, what about them?

I saw the film in the USA recently. It’s excellent. Whether or not you use facebook or any social media. The story of how it all happened, and how quickly, is very interesting.
Timberlake is a tool though.
Go see it.

How odd – I emailed mumbrella@focalattractions.com.au earlier to get tix, to later get ticket confirmation from Triple J for the same movie, different screening location/times.
How very strange…

Hi Ashleigh,
Very strange indeed. We haven’t actually processed anybody’s emails yet. So unless you’re accusing Triple J of hacking our email (which seems a tad unlikely) is it possible that you have previously responded to an offer from them?
Cheers,
Tim – Mumbrella
I would never accuse anything about Triple J!
I’ve actually already spoken to someone there and they thought it was strange too.
But turns out a friend submitted my name in one of their comps without telling me.
Mystery is solved!
