Murdoch features in Wikileaks cables

Wikileaks’ next target could be major media organisations, its leader Julian Assange has hinted.

In an interview due to be published by New Statesman magazine, Assange says of the leaked diplomatic cables: “There are 504 US embassy cables on one broadcasting organisation and there are cables on Murdoch and News Corp.”

News Corp owns News Ltd whose Australian interests include The Australian, Daily Telegraph, Courier Mail, Herald Sun and news.com.au.

It is not the first time that Wikileaks has revealed embarrassing details about media owners. In 2009, Wikileaks published the salary list for every single member of a newspaper’s editorial staff.
