Myer names former Simplot CMO Tara Lordsmith as group GM for marketing

LordsmithFormer Simplot chief marketer Tara Lordsmith has been named as group general marketing manager for Myer.

She will join in mid January and spearhead the development of the department store’s new brand positioning and head up advertising, media buying, brand management, visual merchandise, digital, events and PR.

The responsibilities were previously overseen by chief merchandise and marketing officer Daniel Bracken.

Bracken said Lordsmith’s strong marketing background and her “considerable brand strategy and consumer insights experience will add significant strength to our Marketing team”.

Lordsmith, a highly respected marketer, spent more than nine years at Simplot, which owns major food brands such as Edgell, Birds Eyes and Lean Cuisine, before leaving in late 2013 to set up her own consultancy. She was most recently advising betting company Tabcorp.

Prior to Simplot Lordsmith spent eight years at Cadbury Schweppes where she held roles including foods marketing manager and strategy manager for Australia and New Zealand.

She is also a board member of the Australian Marketing Institute (AMI).
