NAB drops ZO as Mindshare, OMD and MB3 move into three-way shootout
NAB’s incumbent agency ZenithOptimedia has been dropped from the shortlist for the bank’s media account, Mumbrella can reveal.
The shortlist of three consists of WPP’s media agency Mindshare, Omnicom’s OMD and Mediabrands’ recently created media agency MB3. As well as ZO, Aegis-aligned agency Carat has also been dropped from the shortlist.
Zenith Optimedia held the account for six years before NAB called the pitch in August this year. Nielsen estimates the NAB media spend was $40.2m to for the period May 2011 to May 2012, which was over $10 million less than the previous year, estimated at $54.5m.
Mumbrella understands that a number of staff retrenchments have already been made. At the time of posting, ZO’s CEO Ian Perrin could not be reached for comment.
