NBC Universal restructures management, Jo McAlister to depart

NBC Universal’s local marketing director, Jo McAlister is set to depart as the company along with two others as the company restructures its Australian and New Zealand operations.

Mumbrella understands the changes were made in an attempt to simplify the reporting structure, but new roles will be created to replace the three lost as the company adjusts to the changing media landscape.

It is also understood the redundancies are across Bravo New Zealand – the joint venture between MediaWorks New Zealand and NBC, while locally the redundancies include McAlister and the role of advertising sales director.

McAlister joined NBC Universal in July last year. She was previously head of marketing at SBS, a role she had held since 2011.

A spokesperson for NBC Universal told Mumbrella: “As part of the on-going management of our Networks business, we are strategically rebalancing resources to enable our team to optimise focus and best position us for on-going growth.”

Two weeks ago, NBC Universal revealed a new brand identity for SYFY.

Last year, NBC Universal locked in a deal with Foxtel, with its subscription video on-demand service Hayu to be given free to Foxtel subscribers.

NBC Universal’s 13th Street, Universal Channel, Syfy, and E! Online currently run on Foxtel.
