NBN Co shakes up comms team with Nokia’s Tim Marshall to lead PR

Nokia former head of marketing and corporate affairs for Oceania, Tim Marshall, is to join NBN’s PR team after the departure of Dan Chamberlain to Amazon Web Services, Mumbrella can reveal.

Chamberlain is taking the role of public relations manager at AWS, replacing Peter Wicks who left the US cloud giant in January.

Marshall joined Nokia after working Labor communications minister Stephen Conroy

Marshall, the former editor of telco industry site CommsDay, joined Nokia in 2010 following a two year stint with then-Communications minister, Stephen Conroy. At Nokia he held roles including head of external affairs for Australia and later for Oceania.

In his new role, Marshall will be one of four executive managers of communications answering to the general manager of media relations.

Chamberlain joined NBN as senior corporate communications advisor in 2014 after two years as a communications manager with the CSIRO.

NBN’s high profile head of communications, Karina Keisler, left the organisation in February 2018 and later joined Cricket Australia as its public affairs lead.

Keisler was replaced the following May by NSW public servant Felicity Ross to lead NBNs public affairs.

AWS declined to comment on Chamberlain’s appointment while NBN had nothing to say beyond confirming the moves. Nokia confirmed Marshall’s appointment and noted they are looking to fill his role.
