NBN uses cartoons to talk to businesses
The National Broadband Company has launched a new video to explain the benefits of the internet service for businesses.
The B2B video uses the same cartoon aesthetic as its consumer communications.
The campaign is intended to promote the new services available to businesses.
The NBN will give businesses the ability to run up to 50 voice services over the fibre network, assuming they have the correct equipment to enable the service, and offers extended levels of support for internet service providers.
Andrew Sholl, general manager of media relations at NBN Co told Mumbrella: “NBN has only 41 direct customers, all of whom are ISPs. The core message is for us to explain to the 2 million small businesses in Australia the advantages the NBN will offer and get them thinking about what they need to do in time for the roll out.”
The work was created in-house and animated by Sydney company Sixty40.
Peter Strong, executive director, Council of Small Business of Australia, said in a press release “There’s a real chance for small businesses to find new ways to increase productivity, reduce costs and expand markets through new ways of working, as well as gain more free time and cut down on stress.”
Recent consumer-facing communications from NBN narrowly escaped a Press Council ruling after a complaint was made about a supplement in the Sydney Morning Herald.
NBN: Please hurry.
We assume our Aussie customers are on 2Mbs connections even in metro suburbs which is realistic in most cases.
Even in Woolloomooloo, no more than 500m from Sydney CBD, the speed is a lamentable 5Mbs.
So tired of excuses.
That anyone needs converting to the cause is a worry – the advantage to companies in the US, UK etc over us is considerable.

Dear Mr Dear Moron,
We are working fast.
It’s a massive infrastructure project replacing pretty much all of Australia’s telecommunications. It’s a 10 year project and we are using over 200,000km of fibre optic cable as well as launching two satellites in 2015 to cover rural Australia.
Cheers,
Scott

Pssst … I think you will find that it is called animation – lest Fantasia be dubbed a cartoon as well.
