Netflix orders Australian-produced series starring Mythbusters cast
A locally produced Netflix series is set to hit screens in early December with the show a spin-off of Mythbusters which ended its 14th season on Discovery in early March.
Netflix ordered White Rabbit Project, an unscripted original series starring Mythbusters’ Kari Byron, Tory Belleci and Grant Imahara, from Australian-based production company Beyond Productions with the series shot in the US and Australia.
Beyond Productions’ John Luscombe, Ryan Senter and Martyn Ives are working as executive producers.
The Mythbusters trio will use their scientific skills to delve into diverse pop culture, science and history events.
The program plans to investigate events from a scientific angle, such as jailbreaks, heists and war weaponry.
Announced at DragonCon in early September, the new series will use the same production model as was used for MythBusters.
White Rabbit Project will premiere globally on Netflix on December 9.
Earlier this month a report claimed Netflix has spent more than twice as much on original programming as the entire Australian TV market.
Can anyone name a successful reboot that has ridden off the back of a successful overseas series? How about The Office? Any more?
