Netflix’s Wednesday cast and creators ignite fan frenzy on Sydney’s Cockatoo Island
Sydney’s Cockatoo Island played host to a Netflix event that united the cast and creators of its show ‘Wednesday’ with fans ahead of the premier for the second part of season two.
The announcement:
Wednesday cast, creators and thousands of devoted fans descended upon Wednesday Island. A fan event of epic proportions, saw Cockatoo Island / Wereamah set ablaze with a fire, fans and a flaming raven pyre spanning over 5M.
Wednesday stars Jenna Ortega (Wednesday Addams), Emma Myers (Enid Sinclair), Gwendoline Christie (Larissa Weems), Hunter Doohan (Tyler Galpin), and the architects of their torment: executive producer and director Tim Burton, alongside series creators and showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar walked a fire-flanked carpet before taking the stage for a rousing Q&A revealing secrets, theories and speculations ahead of the upcoming Season 2: Part 2 premiere on September 3.
Attendees were subjected to a rousing performance by Australian artist Peach PRC.
On the Island…
Students of Nevermore invaded the Island as fans encountered Werewolves, Vampires, Sirens, Gorgons, DaVincis and more.
Fans queued to place themselves inside the faithful recreation of Ophelia Hall (the closest one could get to sharing a room with Wednesday Addams, without facing her wrath).
This evening’s event marks the unsettling conclusion of the Global Doom Tour, a three-day reign of terror inflicted upon Sydney-siders by the Wednesday cast and creators. Preceding their arrival was a prior reconnaissance mission (or perhaps a fleeting holiday?) undertaken by Wednesday’s steadfast appendage, Thing.
