New editor of AdNews is Damian Francis

Science and technology writer Damian Francis is to join AdNews as the magazine’s fifth editor since 2009.

Francis, previously editor of Future Publishing’s T3 magazine tweeted that he will be joining as editor of the print edition of AdNews from Monday.

Francis’ appointment follows the imminent move of Darren Davidson to The Australian.

He began his career as a writer and editorial assistant at Fairfax Media in 2004. Francis then moved on to the now defunct publisher Derwent Howard where he eventually became editor of technology title T3 along with Windows Vista magazine and F1 Racing magazine. He then moved to WW Media Group where he launched the Australian edition of Science Illustrated. He then followed T3 to Future Publishing where he was managing editor for two years.

He has spent the last six months freelancing for titles including GQ and Men’s Health.

Update: AdNews reports that David Blight will now become the title’s online editor. His new title comes a few days after he was named as deputy editor after previously being deputy news editor. Paul McIntyre, previously editor-at-large, has been named as editor-in-chief.
