New music act Danimals to write soundtrack for Lion Nathan TV ad

Lion Nathan’s competition to find a new musical act to star in a Tooheys Extra Dry TV ad has revealed Sydney band Danimals as the winner.

The band was chosen by musician and producer Mark Ronson. Danimals will fly to New York to collaborate with Ronson in his studio with Nick Hodgson of Kaiser Chiefs, Sean Lennon, John Taylor of Duran Duran, Santigold and members of The Dap-Kings.

The final track will feature as the soundtrack for Tooheys Extra Dry’s next national advertising campaign due to launch in March.

The winner’s journey will also be filmed and released as a fly-on-the-wall documentary.

Speaking about Danimals’ win, Ronson said: “I thought they were incredibly original, really unusual and one of the most interesting things I’ve heard in a while.”

The band is made up of three drummers who rotate around a single drum kit and separate synth and percussion stations.
