New partnership supports First Nations creatives on NSW Sapphire Coast
The Destination Agency and Studio Jaanda have teamed up to create career pathways for local Aboriginal talent through hands-on creative projects.
The announcement:
A new partnership between destination marketing specialists The Destination Agency and First Nations-owned creative start-up Studio Jaanda is opening pathways for local Aboriginal creatives on the Sapphire Coast of New South Wales.
The collaboration combines The Destination Agency’s experience in destination marketing and media production with Studio Jaanda’s Aboriginal-led production studio. Together, they’re building a new model for regional creative production grounded in skill-building and genuine industry exposure for the Aboriginal community.
Their first joint project is a campaign for Bendigo Community Bank Pambula and Bega, highlighting local community groups supported by the bank. Through a series of short films, the campaign celebrates the important work of these groups while showcasing the bank’s role in enabling important community projects.
“This campaign is just the beginning,” said Anthony Osborne, managing director of The Destination Agency.
“We’ve worked with Eden Local Aboriginal Land Council for many years on tourism projects, and this partnership with Studio Jaanda is a fantastic evolution of that relationship. We’re committed to giving back with time and access to real creative projects that will hopefully help build careers in marketing and advertising.”
Founded under the Eden Local Aboriginal Land Council and guided by local film producer Kyle Wilson, Studio Jaanda is focused on growing a sustainable, Aboriginal-led creative business that creates commercial work across media, design and visual storytelling. Its mission is to open the door for local Aboriginal community members to explore creative careers through practical experience and hands-on learning.
“This partnership gives us access to real clients and real opportunities,” said Kyle Wilson, creative director at Studio Jaanda.
“It’s a way to support the next generation of First Nations creatives by giving them the tools, networks and confidence to step into creative industries.”
The partnership has already seen its first success story in trainee Alkira Aldridge, who has been mentored by Kyle Wilson throughout the Community Stories project.
“I couldn’t be more proud of Alkira,” said Wilson.
“She picked it up straight away. We’ve been having the best fun on set, and honestly, I’m learning so much from her as well.”
The Destination Agency and Studio Jaanda plan to continue collaborating on commercial projects across tourism, branding and media production, with a shared commitment to nurturing regional talent and embedding inclusive practices into their work.
The Community Stories campaign for Bendigo Community Bank Pambula and Bega will launch publicly in August 2025.
