Wassup 08 viral of the year

The 2008 Obama-themed update on the famous Budweiser “Wassup” advertising campaign has been named as the most viewed viral ad of the year.

According to research published on Friday by digital agency GoViral, the ad was the most popular across five leading video sharing sites – YouTube, Dailymotion, Metacafe, Break and Vimeo.

The election ad, directed by Charles Stone, was made independently of Budweiser, which had only licenced, rather than owned, the original Wassup concept. It averaged 300,000 views a day. The rest of the 2008 top ten was:
