News Corp Australia and the AFL have come together to mark the 10th anniversary of Sir Doug Nicholls Round, honouring the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander players, cultures and communities to Australian football.

Running across Rounds 10 and 11, News’ daily metro mastheads including The Daily Telegraph, Herald Sun, The Courier-Mail and The Advertiser as well as Code Sports are featuring stories on digital, video, print and social platforms that acknowledge past trailblazers and today’s stars while inspiring the players of tomorrow.

Editorial coverage also includes features on the inspiration for every club’s guernsey for the round as well as extensive player profiles and a preview of the upcoming Dreamtime at the ‘G blockbuster between Essendon and Richmond.

News Sport national AFL editor Will Hogan said: “At News Sport we’re proud to support and celebrate this important milestone by amplifying Indigenous stories and voices through our storytelling. Our coverage aims to go beyond the field exploring the rich history that Indigenous players bring to the game. We are committed to building greater understanding and appreciation of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander contributions to Australian football.”

In a celebration of talent, culture and style, News’ GQ Australia has also published a special release of its premium digital cover, GQ Hype, featuring three of the league’s most prominent Indigenous players.

Hawthorn’s Jarman Impey, Carlton’s Jesse Motlop and Geelong’s Lawson Humphries feature in an exclusive photo shoot and in-conversation interview explaining what Sir Doug Nicholls Round means to them both on and off the field.
