News dominates Thursday with MasterChef best of the rest

News programming continues to dominate OzTam’s nightly TV ratings, with Seven News the most-watched program of Thursday night with 968,000 metro viewers.

Its performance helped Seven to a nightly network share win, taking 28.7% ahead of Nine’s 26.2%, Ten’s 20.6% and ABC on 15.7%.

Among entertainment programs, MasterChef Australia was the top rating, pulling an average of 570,000 metro viewers to be the #7 offering of the night overall.

Heston Blumenthal joins MasterChef Australia

Thursday night’s episode of MasterChef, which saw contestants battle it out for immunity in a Heston Blumenthal dessert challenge, also topped all three advertising demos.

Seven’s Home And Away aired to 523,000 metro viewers while The Chase Australia (473,000 metro viewers) also performed well for the network.

AFL panel show The Front Bar brought in another 344,000 metro viewers for Seven, beating the other sports-related offering for the night, Nine’s coverage of the Rabbitohs against the Raiders, watched by 334,000 metro viewers (with 200,000 of those in Sydney.

Ten’s latest Royal special, William And Catherine: Saving The Crown, was watched by 336,000 metro viewers.

7Mate took the #1 position among the multi-channels, with a 4.2% share.
