News Ltd makes senior marketing hires

NationwideNews_logo mumbrellaNews Ltd has significantly strengthened its marketing team with a string of senior hires and internal promotions within Nationwide News.  

The moves follow a shake-up earlier this year which saw the Australian moved into a separate division leaving The Daily Telegraph, The Sunday Telegraph, mX and Sportsman within Nationwide News.

At the same time Nationwide News MD Alasdair MacLeod left the company and was replaced by Michael Miller.

The most significant move sees Miller appoint David Goldman – currently the assistant GM of marketing at Canon Australia – as marketing director of Nationwide News, includign the marketing of  The Daily and Sunday Telegraph, mX, The Sportsman and thedailytelegraph.com.au. He joins on Monday July 12.

Miller said: “David brings to Nationwide News a unique combination of fast-moving retail, brand, point of sale, loyalty and new media marketing experience.”

Rachel King – currently national features marketing manager – is to be promoted to deputy marketing director.

DM expert Chris McDowell – formerly marketing and distribution manager for BT Financial Group – becomes Subscriptions Marketing Manager for Nationwide News, driving the acquisition of new subscribers across all platforms. He also starts on July 12.

Heidi Melville, previously at ACP magazines, becomes marketing and promotions manager of The Sunday Telegraph. She joins on July 19.

Miller said: “These four appointments will bring new skills and experience to all areas of the company.”
