Nic McClure revealed as senior EP for LiSTNR Original Podcasts

Southern Cross Austereo (SCA) has announced that experienced executive producer Nic McClure has been appointed to the new role of senior executive producer for LiSTNR Original Podcasts

McClure will develop and produce new original podcasts as well as continue to oversee news podcasts The Briefing and Your Morning Agenda.

Reporting into LiSTNR head of news and entertainment original podcasts, Sam Cavanagh, and head of specialty and feature podcasts, Jennifer Goggin, McClure will also work on developing and on-boarding new podcast producers.

McClure has racked up experience working as an EP on multiple ACRA-winning Australian radio shows including KIIS 106.5’s Kyle and Jackie O, Nova’s Kate, Tim and Marty, and many more.

She has also worked at The Australian Film Television and Radio School (AFTRS) as a professional mentor and also created and tutored the school’s Radio Producer Industry Certificate.

Cavanagh said: “Nic is one of the most experienced and respected executive producers in the industry. We are so excited to work together as LiSTNR continues its growth in original podcasts.”

McClure oversaw the development and launch of The Briefing with Tom Tilley, and has continued to work as its executive producer over the past year.

Goggin added: “Nic’s experience, passion for audio, creativity and attention to detail make her the perfect fit for this role as well as the LiSTNR Original Podcast team as we continue creating premium original podcasts.”

The announcement sees SCA continue to expand its LiSTNR team, and McClure said she’s excited to work with Cavanagh, Goggin, as well as general manager digital audio Grant Tothill.

“While audiences are consuming digital audio at an accelerated pace, I’m really excited to be a part of SCA’s digital transformation myself.

“To be creating new and compelling content and helping develop our talented LiSTNR Original Podcast team with general manager digital audio Grant [Tothill], Sam and Jen, well, what a force to be reckoned with.”

LiSTNR launched in February this year as a means of housing live streams of SCA’s radio stations and shows across its Hit and Triple M network, as well as over 100 original local, national and global podcasts.

It has already expanded to include original music radio stations, local news and weather across multiple markets, as well as live digital-only radio shows like Steve Price’s Australia Today.

Speaking with Mumbrella earlier this year, CEO Grant Blackley said LiSTNR provides a scaled but simplistic offering for advertisers.

“LiSTNR underpins the implementation of our new digital first operating model at SCA.

“With a mandatory sign in, SCA will have access to known users and a real time deep understanding of our audiences to deliver targeted audiences at scale for advertisers,” he says.

“I think revenue will continue to accelerate as there continues to be a high appetite for digital content. It’s a scaled solution that allows us to expand our discussion more aggressively with digital investors. “
