Nine aims to get younger fans on its catch-up platform with Maker Studio deal
The Nine Network has penned an exploratory deal with Walt Disney-backed Maker Studio, as it looks to get younger audiences on to its 9Now catch-up platform.
Maker Studios has forged a reputation as a content hub for millennial viewers, building its popularity on Youtube before selling to Walt Disney for US$500m in 2014. The media giant is now moving to more aggressively monetise the content.
Under the deal, Nine is hosting five popular series from Maker, including an exclusive run of Youtuber Joe Weller’s new series Jobsworth.
