Nine audience falls below one million
The Nine Network’s poor start to the 2011 TV ratings season got worse on Tuesday night when not a single show from the broadcaster rated more than 1m.
While there have been a number of recent occasions where Nine News has been the only program to deliver metro ratings above 1m, last night it rated 994,000, according to preliminary overnight ratings from OzTam.
Last week, the only Nine shows to rate above 1m were Nine News, 60 Minutes, Underbelly Files and one episode of Two And A Half Men which has just seen its current series cancelled in the US.
Seven continued its dominance of the Tuesday schedule with Packed To The Rafters winning the night with 1.748m. My Kitchen Rules rated a strong 1.595m.
The network averaged a 28.4% share for its primary channel, while Nine and Ten were both below 20%. Seven also had a good night with its digital channels, with 7Mate top with a 3% share and 7Two joint second on 2.9%.
Menawhile, Nine was at least able to put the put the Ben Elton debacle behind it, with an episode of programming warhorse Adults Only 20 To 01 doing better in the timeslot than any of the three episodes of Live From Planet Earth achieved.
20 To 01 rated an average audience of 469,000, according to preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam. Elton had averaged 455,000 for Live From Planet Earth’s first episode, 384,000 for the second and 189,000 for the third (which ran in a later slot in some states).
Ten’s best performer was NCIS, which rated 1.122m.
Top Gear averaged 814,000 for Nine
Seven’s Conviction Kitchen aired at 9.30pm, slipped slightly on last week’s debut, down from 825,000 to 757,000.
