Nine MSN hires UM’s Ben Millar and Fairfax’s JJ Eastwood to senior sales roles

NineMSN has raided media agency Universal McCann and rival Fairfax Digital to hire two senior sales staff.

Ben Millar, previously national digital director at Universal McCann, joins as NineMSN’s head of content integration. And JJ Eastwood, Fairfax Digital’s sales director for business development, will be specialist sales director at NineMSN.  

They will both report in to national sales director Nicholas Gray.

Gray said: “Ben’s digital, strategic and creative skills make him the ideal leader for the Content Integration team who create and implement great ideas for clients, develop specific digital sales solutions to drive categories such as FMCG and retail, and ensure that content is designed with advertisers, as well as our audience, in mind.”

Millar added: “These are exciting times for digital publishers. NineMSN is in a truly unique position with both great content and access to cutting edge technology which will allow it to innovate and continue to lead the market. I am thrilled to be joining such a great team of people and look forward to working with them to create innovative, effective and meaningful opportunities for advertisers.”

Millar was also a member of the Media Federation of Australia’s digital committee.

His departure from Universal McCann provides yet another senior vacancy to be filled at the agency, which is currently awaiting the arrival of new CEO Mat Baxter.

Andrew Davis recently switched to become digital director at sister agency Initiative. Senior client services director Chris O’Keefe and Anneliese Douglass have also moved in the same direction.

Eastwood has been with Fairfax Digital since 2007. Gray said: ” JJ brings a diversified set of leadership skills in digital, offline and client-side experiences which set him up well for this diverse role.”
