Nine wins the night despite Ten’s reality domination

Despite the success of Ten’s reality programs and a low audience for the NRL clash, Nine managed to win Thursday night with an audience share of 19.4%, ahead of Ten’s 17.6%.

Seven managed an audience share of 16.5%, The ABC 11.7% and SBS 4.1%, according to OzTAM’s overnight preliminary metro ratings.

Channel Nine’s 7:30pm live offering of the NRL clash between the Sydney Roosters and Canterbury Bulldogs, which saw the Roosters scrape a victory, attracted 385,000 viewers across Brisbane and Sydney, bringing it to number 21 on the list of the most-watched programs.

In news, Nine managed to win the night, with an audience of 897,000 at 6:00pm and 826,000 at 6:30pm.

Seven’s news offering captured 833,000 and 817,000 respectively.

While Nine won the overall audience share, it did not beat Ten across the key advertising demographics 16-39, 18-49 and 25-54.

Ten’s I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! which aired at 7:30pm, managed 746,000 viewers, making it the most-watched non-news program of the evening, despite being down on last week’s audience of 767,000.

Despite the program running over by nine minutes, I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here! peaked at elimination time with 890,000 viewers tuning in to see Steve Price leave the jungle.

GoggleBox, which aired on Channel Ten at 8:30pm, captured an audience of 728,000.

The program was the number one show across the key advertising demographics, with I’m a Celebrity, Get Me Out of Here! falling into second and third place, for elimination and the Thursday night viewing respectively.

At 7pm, Seven captured 575,000 viewers for its Home and Away offering and 460,000 viewers for it’s 8:30pm program, Mighty Trains.

The ABC’s Dream Gardens had an audience of 571,000 viewers at 8:00pm, while the channel’s 8:30pm offering, Newton’s Law had 460,000 viewers.
