Nine wins TV ratings week thanks to weekend cricket boost

Nine won Saturday’s ratings and with them the ratings week, preliminary overnight metro ratings from OzTam reveal.

Thanks to the cricket, the network took a 24.6% share of Saturday night’s audience, well ahead of Seven’s 19.6%.wide-world-of-sports-logo

The first session of the third day of the first Australia-Pakistan test drew an average metro audience of 709,000. This rose to 872,000 for the second session and 885,000 for the third.

The inherited audience also helped Nine News to a strong audience of 924,000, well ahead of Seven News’s 819,000 and ABC News’s 618,000.

The top show for Ten, which had a share for Saturday of just 7.1%, was MacGyver with 219,000.

Nine’s cumulative Sunday to Saturday share was 19.4%, just ahead of Seven’s 18.7%. Ten averaged 11.2% for the week, behind ABC’s 13%.
