Nine’s Ashes coverage wins Wednesday night, tops all advertising demos

Nine’s coverage of the Ashes topped Wednesday night entertainment and pushed the network to an overall win.

Session 1 of the England vs Australia first test aired to 792,000 metro viewers, topping all three key advertising demos.

Overall, it was Seven News that remained on top with 912,000 metro viewers, followed by Seven News at 6:30 with 860,000, Nine News 6:30 with 832,000 and Nine News with 806,000.

Back to entertainment, and ABC’s Utopia aired to 590,000 metro viewers, while The Chase Australia on Seven had 567,000. Ten’s MasterChef Australia had 460,000 metro viewers and Nine’s Hot Seat had 421,000.

The pre-match Ashes coverage had 509,000 metro viewers tune in.

As mentioned, Nine won overall share with 37.9%, followed by Seven with 22.3%, ABC with 17.1%, Ten with 15.5% and SBS with 7.2%.

Nine was also the top-rated primary channel at 30.3%, while 9Gem was the top-rated multichannel at 3.0%.

In the latest Daily Consolidated 7 Total TV Report for 21 June, State of Origin Game II was the #1 program with a Total TV audience of 3.206 million, a 22% uplift and 575,000 on BVOD.

The pre-match coverage had 1.611 million, a 17% uplift and 230,000 on BVOD, while post-match had 1.028 million, 21% uplift and 173,000 on BVOD.

ABC’s Queen of Oz-Le had the biggest uplift of 105%, with a Total TV audience of 410,000 and BVOD audience of 77,000.
