Nine’s Olympics to air in HD
The London Olympics will be available to free to air viewers in HD, Nine has revealed.
The announcement came as part of Nine’s launch event for its first coverage of the Games since winning the rights from Seven. The Olympics begin in late July and run into August.
In common with rivals Seven and Ten, Nine’s main channel is in standard definition only. But for the duration of the games, it will be simulcasting with Gem which is in high definition.
Meanwhile, partly because of the time difference with the UK, Nine’s Olympics will be on virtually around the clock.
This includes competition coverage from 6.30pm through the night to 9am. This will then be followed by a two hours highlights compilation which will also air again in the afternoon.
Although the Today show will not air during the Olympics, presenters Karl Stefanovic, Lisa Wilkinson and Cameron Williams will be helping host coverage along with the sports team including Ray Warren, Ken Sutcliffe, Mark Nicholas, Eddie McGuire, Grant Hackett and Cameron Williams.
Subscription TV operator Foxtel will also be airing the event across multiple channels while 2GB has radio rights.

I wonder what the boss of Foxtel thinks about this?

@James- Either it wasn’t HD (the source or the channel) or you need an eye check up!
