Ninja Warrior semi-final gives Nine an easy Tuesday ratings win

The first Ninja Warrior semi-final gave Nine an easy win on Tuesday, with a 14.7 audience share percentage point lead over its closest competitor for the evening, Ten.

OzTAM’s overnight preliminary metro ratings reported an audience share of 28.8% for Nine, ahead of Ten’s share of 14.1% and Seven’s 13.3%.

ABC and SBS’ shares were 10.1% and 6.0% respectively.

Ninja Warrior, which is set to end next week, has topped the ratings ladder every Sunday-Tuesday since it began on 9 July.

Last night’s semi-final, which saw just four contestants complete the course, pulled 1.570m metro viewers and 2.238m national viewers, topping the key advertising demographics 16-39, 18-49, 25-54.

Ten’s Masterchef, which saw the departure of Mindshare strategist, Arum Nixon, captured a metro audience of 828,000, while nationally it had 1.158m.

The show, which is set to finish next Monday, placed second across the key ad demographics.

Seven’s Behave Yourself, which aired at the same time as Masterchef and Ninja Warrior, reached 343,000 metro viewers and 604,000 viewers across Australia.

It was a successful night for Seven in news with its 6pm offering reaching 1.070m ahead of Nine’s 1.034m.

Ten’s Shark Tank, which aired later on in the evening had 546,000 metro viewers while Nine’s James Bond film, Quantum of Solace, captured 457,000 metro viewers.

Seven’s Yummy Mummies reached 289,000 metro viewers.
