NITV announces the return of landmark short documentary film initiative Our Stories

NITV is pleased to announce a call out for submissions for the next season of ‘Our Stories.’

The initiative encourages and supports emerging Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander filmmakers from across the country to make a 13-14 minute documentary film.

This year is the UNESCO International Year of Indigenous Languages and applicants are encouraged to use this as inspiration.

The aim of Our Stories is to give Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples the opportunity to produce factual stories from the diverse communities that make up Australia. Whilst nationwide, NITV gives special emphasis to regional and remote stories. The initiative will involve support from the development stage through to the final delivery of the project, and gives emerging filmmakers an invaluable national television platform to showcase the stories from around Australia. Completed films are intended for broadcast on NITV and available to view on SBS On Demand.

NITV Channel Manager, Tanya Orman said: “We’re already excited to see the submissions for the next season of ‘Our Stories’.

“We’re proud as a channel to be able to support emerging film makers, and to provide a platform that will show our viewers stories from every corner of Australia.”
