‘Northsider’, magazine for Sydney’s lower north shore launched by former Pacific Magazine staffers

Two former Pacific Magazines staffers have launched a new magazine catering for the Sydney harbourside suburbs of McMahons Point, Lavender Bay, Milsons Point, Kirribilli and North Sydney.

Northside Magazine founder founders Anna Gordon and Belinda Spillane

Northsider is a quarterly 36-page, A5 magazine featuring interviews with local people, a what’s-on section and lifestyle content focused on the area.

Founded by former That’s Life deputy editor Anna Gordon and art director Belinda Spillane, the publication will be distributed to local residents, shops and businesses.

Advertisers in the first issue include Natural Raw C, the Sydney Flying Squadron, Foys Restaurant and Ensemble Theatre. Also on the launch-issue team are former Look magazine art director, Angela Joseph and ex-UK Women’s Health chief sub-editor, Frances Pearson.

Gordon and Spillane left That’s Life three years ago to start Contented Media, a content agency with clients including Macquarie Media, Willoughby City Council and Natural Raw C. Contented Media will continue to operate, Gordon told Mumbrella.

“While we run a successful boutique content agency and work with a range of fabulous clients, after spending almost 20 years working on some of the world’s most-read magazines, print will always have a special place in our hearts,” Gordon said.

“We wanted to create something that celebrates our local area, so to be able to produce Northsider and add it to our portfolio of work has been an absolute joy. The icing on the cake has been the phenomenal response from the community. We can’t wait to reveal issue two.”
