NOVA Entertainment and The Hallway launch UFO-led ‘Together in Music’ campaign

Nova Entertainment has released a new out-of-this-world brand campaign – ‘Together in Music’ – that spotlights music’s power to unify us, for Smooth FM, via The Hallway.

Developed in relation to Smooth FM’s ‘Together in Music’ brand platform, the campaign leverages a 30-second feature film showcasing a UFO invading suburbia (and its radio waves) to blast Starships’ 1985 hit ‘We Built This City’, while residents watch and groove to the music.

Directed by eight-time Cannes Lions-award winner, Paul Middleditch, the advertisement will be rolled out nationally across digital video channels, TV and cinema channels.

It will be also be supported by accompanying out-of-home (OOH) creative materials that collate popular artists names and stills of daily life to capture Smooth FM’s expansive audience.

“’Together in Music’ says everything about the unifying power of the kind of music Smooth FM plays all day long, so it’s amazing to see this new positioning brought to life so powerfully by this campaign,” said Adam Johnson, chief growth officer at NOVA Entertainment.

“Whilst ads from radio brands tend to follow a certain formula, we wanted this to be an ad like no other and I’m delighted with what the team have delivered.”

According to The Hallway’s creative director, Dan Saunders, the chance to break the run-of-the-mill radio advertising game was an opportunity that the Sydney-based advertising agency couldn’t help but tackle with gusto.

“Adam challenged us to break the usual radio advertising formula and we were happy to oblige. It’s been a great collaboration and we’ve already proven that ‘Together in Music’ is a brand platform with intergalactic potential. The exciting question now is where shall we take it next?,” shared Saunders.

The ‘Together in Music’ campaign follows the news that NOVA Entertainment tapped BINGE and Foxtel for its newest head of communications.
