Nova launches Red Room ARIA Week with six acts including Tones and I and Guy Sebastian

Nova Entertainment has launched a week of celebrating Australian music with its Red Room ARIA Week, presented by Mitsubishi ASX.

Nova’s Red Room ARIA Week Presented by Mitsubishi ASX will celebrate the Australian music industry in the count down to the 2019 ARIA Awards. This year some of the country’s biggest artists including Birds of Tokyo, Dean Lewis, Guy Sebastian, Illy, PNAU and Tones and I will perform for their biggest fans in a series of Nova’s Red Room shows on the ARIA Week calendar.

Formed in Perth in 2004, Birds of Tokyo have grown from independent roots to a band who sit at the pinnacle of Australian rock. Songs like ‘Plans’, ‘Lanterns’, ‘I’d Go With You Anywhere’ and ‘Unbreakable’ have all been top 10 airplay hits and have led to appearances at every major festival in this country.

Having carved a singular career for more than a decade with numerous gold/platinum certifications and multiple ARIA Award nominations, they are the only artist in history to win “Rock Work Of The Year” on five separate occasions at the prestigious APRA Awards. Birds of Tokyo are nominated for two ARIA Awards this year, including Best Group and Song of The Year for ‘Good Lord’, which has over nine million streams on Spotify. The band’s recent Good Lord Tour was one of the fastest selling of their career and saw sold out signs at venues across the country.

Having amassed over 2.3 billion streams worldwide, Australian singer-songwriter Dean Lewis has just finished up two years of non-stop global touring playing LA’s iconic Wiltern Theatre last week. Dean has played over 200 shows over the last 12 months along with mainstage festival appearances at Lollapalooza, Reeperbahn and Splendour in the Grass.

His number one ARIA charting and gold selling debut album, A Place We Knew, with singles ‘Waves’ (6 x times platinum in Australia, and gold certification in USA) and ‘Be Alright’ (8 x platinum in Australia and double platinum in the USA, Canada, Sweden, and Norway) is nominated for Album of the Year at the 2019 ARIA awards, along with three other nominations for Best Male Artist, Best Pop Release and Song of The Year for ‘7 Minutes’.

ARIA 2019 host and Singer, Songwriter and Producer Guy Sebastian is arguably one of Australia’s most successful male solo artists. Guy is the only Australian male artist to have ever achieved six number one singles and two number one albums in ARIA chart history, whist his debut single ‘Angels Brought Me Here’ still holds the record for the fastest selling single in ARIA chart history. His global hit ‘Battle Scars’ with Lupe Fiasco has clocked over eight million views on YouTube and 190 million streams on Spotify.

Guy’s latest smash hit single, ‘Choir,’ was released in May and is officially Guy’s most successful song at Australia radio in his career, contributing to his four nominations for this year’s ARIA Awards including Song Of The Year, Video of The Year and Best Pop release, along with Best Male Artist.

One of Australia’s most innovative and creative artists, ARIA award winner, Illy has cemented himself as a fan favourite on both the airwaves and touring circuit with singles like ‘Papercuts’, ‘Catch 22’ and ‘Tightrope’. Earlier this year Illy released his first new music in over two years, ‘Then What’ – which is already ARIA certified Platinum and nominated for Best Hip-Hop Release at this year’s ARIA awards. Illy’s brand new single ‘Lean On Me’ featuring Robinson is out now.

Australian dance music trio PNAU are one of the country’s most iconic electronic acts with their debut album Sambanova earning them their first ARIA Award in 2000 for Best Dance Release. In 2017 PNAU released their fifth studio album Changa ̧ with lead single, the 4 x platinum selling ‘Chameleon’ taking out the ARIA Award for Best Dance Release that year, and follow up single, the 3 x platinum ‘Go Bang’, winning PNAU their third Best Dance Release ARIA Award in 2018, making them the only act to take out the category three times.

In 2019, PNAU return with ARIA Award nominated single ‘Solid Gold’ featuring Kira Divine and Marques Toliver and newly released single ‘All Of Us’ featuring Ollie Gabriel.

Tones and I is one of the biggest breakout artists the nation has seen in recent history, this week having equalled  the record for the longest consecutive weeks at number one by an artist with her hit track, ‘Dance Monkey’ (13 weeks).

Dance Monkey’ celebrates over 109 million streams on YouTube, 380 million streams on Spotify, and has reached official #1 in the singles charts across 14 countries including UK, Ireland and Germany. Tones and I is nominated for eight awards for this year’s ARIA awards will be touring across Europe in early November, before returning to Australia to perform for Nova’s Red Room and attend the ARIA Awards before embarking on the newly announced The Kids Are Coming Tour across North America & Europe which kicks off in February 2020.

Listeners will have the chance to attend the Nova’s Red Room ARIA Week shows by listening to Nova Network from Monday 4 November.
