NRMA Insurance stages ‘Never without a car’ live Facebook stunt
NRMA Insurance’s live Facebook contest sees Sydneysiders bring to life the insurer’s ‘Never without a car’ proposition at Martin Place today.
The competition has invited the public to vote on whether contestants should be rewarded or penalised for being without a car, which they have to keep touching for three days straight.
The winner will receive a Volkswagen Golf plus five years’ NRMA Comprehensive Plus Car Insurance.
“We had 7000 entries, which for a Facebook competition that’s been running for a week, is a great response,” said Rob Lowe, MD of Eleven PR, the agency behind the activation activity.
The most boring 1:33 of video I have ever seen – hands down.

One of the more bizarre competitions that I have ever seen…not sure how captivating it is the watch people with their hands on a car, but points for thinking outside the square I guess.

think it takes balls to think outside the box especially for a typical ‘boring’ finance/insurance sector. Beats any Budget direct tv ad for sure!?

I agree w/ Anonymous…zzzz I thought this was going to be far better than it was. Decent idea, needs some x factor to make this pop. Too late now.

If you think the video is boring, spare a thought for the poor souls that have been stuck at Martin Place for 3 days, when I walk past each day they look las bored as anything.

Hey its beats a ’25 words or less’ mechanic !
Then again, I doubt they’ll be running it next year.

@Fraser – They can win a car, I would leave my hand in a fat guys back pocket to win a car. @bitter and twisted – I agree, however at least they are trying. The best part of this whole campaign is that NRMA has been annoying me day and night on the radio, TV and outdoor for months, having said that I am not going to change my insurance.

I don’t think this is nearly as exciting as ‘The Subaru Challenge’ in Singapore where it seems to have been taken from.

In that version the contestants stand in 30C+ temperatures, full sun and near 100% humidity.
